GM: Buybacks “last” for the Chevy volt

NEW YORK-General Motors is offering a free loaner cars for Chevrolet volt owners who wish to have electric cars inspected after reports that the Volt battery can fire, and said Thursday it will also consider buying a car back from the owner of happy as a "last resort."

GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson mentioned the possibility of buybacks in an interview with the Associated Press. A spokesman for GM made similar comments in an interview with CBS Radio News.

The company seems to be running again late Thursday, offers stressed that it was primarily a repeat offer loaner car free and his intention to work with individual owners to ensure the satisfaction of the Volt.

"We are serious about maintaining the customer happy. We're finally going to consider all options but no new initiatives were announced today, "an official statement read.
