Catriona Matthew got a great gift for family

Catriona Matthew of Scotland did not have to worry about making a stop at a souvenir stand Sunday as he left the Guadalajara, Mexico. He took home a victory in the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.

The final round with a 1-under 71, Matthew finished 12 under par and a four-shot and claim victory over runner-up I.K. Kim and Anna Nordqvist. Then he had to call home.

Matthew, 38, usually travel with the family. Her husband, Graeme, is his full time caddie, and two daughters–Katie, 4, and Sophie, 2 – often joined the couple during the tournament week. But with the schedule recently took a tour around the LPGA far east before heading to North America, the mother decide to travel solo while others stay home in Scotland.

Family leave, Matthew played really, really good. When it was finished, he had four career LPGA title, and first since the 2009 women’s open United Kingdom.

“I think the way that it makes me try to concentrate and focus even harder, because I’m away from my family so I try and make the most of it,” Matthew told reporters afterward. “Those trips might be 60 percent of the time with us. They have a daycare system in both the United States so that it works well. Yes, it’s hard when you’re away, but I’ll be home for two months so it’s back to being a normal mother. “
